I am an experienced Designer and Illustrator, with over 30 years of demonstrated history in the luxury interior design and furniture industry.
Watercolour perspectives are impressions of an idea to portray layout and colour schemes and are used by interior designers to help communicate their suggestions to clients. They are relatively quick to set up, and I believe have a more sensitive and artistic atmosphere about them to computerised work.
My work process: – a plan, furniture references and photos. The perspectives are set up in pencil. Should it be required, during the process of setting up the drawing, simple scaled design sketches can be offered at this stage, to keep the work flowing continuously. After approval, the work has watercolour applied.
Perspectives/illustrations come around A3 in size; (excluding the simple mount) and can be posted in a Royal Mail approved folio.
Since a child I enjoyed visiting splendid National Trust houses as well as visiting smaller family homes. All have their unique charm and intimacy. I previously worked for David Hicks International and Soane Britain and have painted many private commissions.
Architects who used watercolours in their design work from the late 18th – early 19 centuries include: John Nash, for his designs of The Royal Pavilion in Brighton & Buckingham Palace, Robert Adam whose designs included those seen at Syon Park, Osterley Park, Kenwood House for instance and Sir John Soane, who lived and worked in Lincoln Inns Fields, London. A more recent architect was Sir Hugh Casson RA. His relaxed impressionistic style is much lighter and impressionist to the other architects mentioned and well worth looking at.
